I bought this book many years ago and I love it. With knowing just the basic guitar chords you can play many popular songs from the 60′s and 70′s such as This Land is Your Land, We All Live in a Yellow Submarine, MoonShadow, House of the Rising Sun, etc… Plus traditional favorites like She’ll be commin’ round the mountain, Sailing,… I’m very glad with my purchase of this book.

This book was the first I used when starting to teach myself to play guitar. It’s well-formatted, in that it moves from very simple songs at the beginning of the book, to very complicated tunes by the end! There are also nice instructional segments in between.
My one complaint (and it’s probably an unavoidable fact with a book like this) is that the songs themselves are fairly dated. It’s a mixed bag of songs and most of them are a few decades old, but there’s a good assortment and I think just about everyone should be able to find songs they know and can enjoy playing. It’s a good beginner book, with enough complexity by the end to keep even an experienced player entertained and challenged!

With this book you can find a song you want to play and, well, play it. Lyrics, chords, and guitar tablature are all there and are complete, so that, short of hearing the song itself, there’s not much else you could want. Great if you’re looking for easy songs to sing&play on the guitar that everybody knows. Defenitely will help you next time you’re playing guitar at the campfire! A must have.
