Tom Petty’s face is priceless at about 4:50 when Prince leans back into the crowd. What makes this video so great, aside from the solo itself, is that if you weren’t paying close attention, you wouldn’t even know Prince was there until the spotlight was on him and he started his solo, then he stole the show after a fantastic vocal by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne.
Have that with your Corn Flakes. I reckon George caught that Telecaster and framed it. Prince is a rock guitar legend and anyone who say he isn’t is a TWAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those about to rock, King Prince, we most humbly salute your genius.
@Dumptruck4Lif Music’s about sound and it’s about evoking feelings. I don’t think it needs to be unscripted to be great music. Great performances takes flair and can’t be planned. I’ve not said it wasn’t a great solo and a great performance, it’s amazing. I love Prince’s music and his playing. But it flat out does not match the song like Clapton’s solo. Harrison was not about being in the spotlight… that’s why he asked Clapton to play the solo.
first of all this is a good solo but its not the best there are a few key components missing the main one is jimmy page and the rest is Led fucking Zeppelin so i dont what the person who named this video was thinking
@colemontelongo Your right and if you like all of the crazy stuff he does then thats cool… Its badass but in my opinion it lacks Harrisons and Claptons sincerity…
what great great cover. bless george’s heart…. and to the idiots, you are missing the point! quit arguing about silly & meaningless things and focus on the truth!
@thefonkykid Come on now, you don`t really believe that Prince, a consummate musical perfectionist that is such an astute performer would actually come before an audience of millions of people on worldwide tv, along with all those in attendance at the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony held at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria on the night that he was inducted to the Hall of Fame, and actually play a song that he had never played before. Prince is way smarter than that.
@chrisironside That’s entirely what music is about, it’s about spontenaity and not some sterile, rehearsed proper shit, Prince turned what would otherwise be a mediocre untalked about performance into something spectacular. Great music is unexpected.
Great song in general, whether Clapton or Prince does it. But Prince just straight up owned that solo, I need to mop up the puddle of my melted face off the floor.
@bhumimanusha @thefonkykid I’m not saying the boy can’t play, he knows how to grind an axe… Just don’t think he works as well on the Harrison track as Ezza.
@chrisironside yeah but Eric Clapton rehearsed the song before turning into a well calculated studio production number, in this video Prince is jamming a song that he never played before, live in front of millions of people, now that is genius!
@bhumimanusha who cares about his sexuality, many of the stereotypical tough rock stars f*ck man, like Kurt Cobain and Judas Priest, even Mike Jagger, Lennon and Bowie f*cked man and they all rock!
@TheTominator45 Doesn’t really sound like the original to me.
you do realize that clapton wrote this solo… prince and petty are covering it

@thefonkykid He’s played that song many times before.

Prince is The Limit.
Unfortunate his work is unavailable on UTube.
@bhumimanusha @thefonkykid I’m not saying the boy can’t play, he knows how to grind an axe… Just don’t think he works as well on the Harrison track as Ezza.
MY FUCKING GOD!!!! Prince is my idol!

Prince is the most complete musician of all time.
