First time I tried creating an acoustic guitar for myself was back in the 1980s, when synthesizer music was all the rage and many guitarists had hung up their instruments on the peg. I started my assembly without really visualizing what I was doing, I just had a dream. Well, several months later I had to give up the ghost. Now with Jonathan Kinkead’s step by step, full color photosm I realize where I made my mistake. I was trying to fly before I grew wings.
In 2004, when Kinkead’s guide hit the stands, I arranged for a copy to be delivered to my local luthier and asked him for a tour of the various power tools be working with. With a small puppy at home, I didn’t want to have any of the delicate and powerful electric implements anywhere nearby the dog, having heard those stories about puppies licking home shredders which would whirr to life at the touch of a canine tongue. Over the past few months my rosette patterns have approached nearly a professional level, after splitting my sideboard four times in a row, which by the way is not cheap even the fourth time! Living in the Mission, a Latin-flavored neighborhood in San Francisco I opted for a Spanish style binding which gives me extra heft and height, and what’s great is that, at the same time as my luthier and I were creating this one of a kind piece, he made me two matching nightstands with identical herringbone purlings, so that when you see the guitar on my bed, you notice right away that the two nightstands are crafted out of the same material (American style) with the same facings and similar drawer pulls and linings.

Great book. Its very easy to read and the pictures are excellent.
He explains each part in good detail.
It should be called a “Tool” because without it I doubt I could get a start.
