I purchased this and shipped to US and finally had it delivered to India in gurgaon. Iam a musician and I desperately wanted a good microphone. I record my violin pieces on my laptop and used an ordinary computer mike for this. But I wanted a more sensitive recording and couldnt believe the dismal output of this mike. The gain was lower than the ordinary mike, it doesnt work at all without the battery, but the sound is tiny and totally unsatisfactory. Unfortunately sony doesnt have good service centres who’ll entertain me in delhi and I consider 70 bucks down the drain. :<…

The recorded volume is too low. It is said a separate amplifier is requied. If that’s true, why not integrate an amplifier into the microphone case itself? In short this is not a product for computer sound card. Maybe it is good for camcorder, never tried.
Good thing: the recorded sound fidelity is great. Bad thing: Volume is low, so that background noise is obvious. We returend the product.

This is a really good microphone! A friend of mine recommended it, and I’m so glad I made the purchase. Seeing is believing, so try it! If it could be just a little bit smaller it would be perfect, but it comes with a neat little stand that will let you swivel the microphone in any possible direction.
